WPress’d Launches in Beta

So here we are, the “big” day. Admittedly it isn’t very big - there hasn’t been an advertising or PR campaign and I haven’t contacted any influential bloggers to start talking about WPress’d. While I was working on the site over the weekend I came to the realisation that this entire project was going to be a lot more work than I had initially anticipated, so there were two options.

Delay releasing the site at all, and try to develop a complete new design from scratch… or, release the site this week with a WooTheme very losely ported across and work on improving and developing the site as it started being used. As you can probably already tell, I opted for number 2.

So what are the plans for this unfinished monstrosity?

Well, I’m glad you asked. I don’t have a specifically laid out plan for the next 24 months including a profits projection, but what I do have is a loose list of things that I want to get done in the coming months.

• Get 100 users signed up asap
• Get 100 feed subscribers asap
• Get a logo designed by Chris Spooner (might try and come up with some scheme to raise cash for this)
• Design a totally new look
• Develop new look into a (painfully painful) smarty template
• Come out of Beta and launch officially
• Get some promotion going on big blogs
• Implement buysellads to start bringing in some revenue to cover costs

This is a lot of work and anyone who can do or help-with any of the items above would be greatly welcomed! For the moment though this site has a tiny (miniscule) budget, so any payment would be in the form of free advertising / links / etc.
